This vest is one of the reasons I’m excited for Marissa Webb at the helm of Banana Republic. A very similar style is available through her namesake line, but at Banana Republic, petite sizing can be had! While I don’t think this particular piece is for me, I’m glad it’s here and available in petites. I love seeing similar styles on others (like here & here!), but ultimately think I need a sleeker silhouette on myself. Maybe a slimmer torso and cut-away hem?. Either way, I love the idea and won’t stop trying this style until it goes away or I find one that works.

The approximate measurements of size Petite 00 are as follows:

Shoulder: 12″ (black) – 12.5″ (pink)
Bust: 15.5″ (black) – 16″ (pink)
Waist: 16.5″ (black) – 17″ (pink)
Length: 26″

Banana Republic denim has never worked for me in the past, but when I saw these, I really liked the wash and saw they were labeled as a new “premium denim”, so figured I’d give them a shot. I ordered size 00P, but received a pair labeled “24P”, which is interchangeable according to the “fit and sizing” guide. The inseam in definitely longer than I expected, coming in at 29″. This is longer than the 28″ inches indicated on the product page, especially when you consider those lengths are usually taken from a size 4 or 6, and often even shorter on the smaller sizes. Aside from that, I like the fit and the wash, and am considering keeping. I wouldn’t call the fabric “premium denim”…but more like a legging jean, feeling more similar to the Old Navy Rockstar or the Gap legging jean. This of course makes them super stretchy, and thus, super comfy. The times I’ve tried them on, they didn’t bag or stretch out, so that’s a plus. Now I’m curious to try these in a lighter blue wash.

The approximate measurements of size Petite 00 (24P) are as follows:

Waist: 12.5″
Hip: 14.5″
Thigh: 8.5″
Rise: 7.5″
Inseam: 29″

Side pockets? On an oversized dress shirt? Yes, please! This one is a cool idea, but unfortunately didn’t work out on me. My frame can handle slightly oversized, but this one got a little too big for me. It’s really the poof at the back that kills it for me size-wise, and this color-way is tougher to pull off with the obvious pocket show-through on the solid white front. The effect is more like an artist’s smock than a boyfriend shirt, which is unfortunate. There is a solid blue version that works better with less pocket show-through, but it doesn’t come in petites so it was a no-go for me. I’ll also add in here that I thought I received a defective shirt when I pulled it out of the package only to realize the chest pocket was sewn onto the inside. I came to realize it’s not a defect, but part of the design when the afore mentioned solid blue version, which I ordered out of curiosity, also had the weird inside chest pocket.

The approximate measurements of size Petite xxs are as follows:

Shoulder: 14″
Bust: 18″
Waist: 19″
Sleeve: 21″
Length: 26.5″

Thanks for this helpful review! I was considering the sleeveless vest, so the measurements you provided are definitely helped. So many of BR’s new arrivals are on my wishlist.. loving all the menswear and military inspired pieces. I want them all!

White House Black Market has a nice double breasted long vest in just now, and in petite, too. It has a trench-like belt that can be tied behind or in front. It didn’t work for me, but you might give it a go. White. Maybe black, I don’t remember.

Love your blog. Hope they treated you well here in Memphis. And Central BBQ is the way to go. Don’t let anyone tell you different. :)

    1. Thanks for the tip Nikki! Memphis was great, except for the mosquitos! We ended up at Rendezvous mostly because it was right next to our hotel (The Peabody). We had some REALLY good BBQ at a catered dinner the night before though…I wonder if that was Central. I’m still licking my licks just thinking about it! =)

I’ve been eyeing the pink vest since BR released their fall line too! Def waiting patiently for a coupon code :) Thanks for the review, Kelly!

  4. I’m quite disappointed in that boyfriend shirt! I love this color but will not try it out because of the transparency. I’m 5’1″ but my top can usually take regular sizing so I may give the blue version a try.
