Petite Outfit: Fun With the LOFT Corsage Button Down

I really like the flowery “corsage” detail of this LOFT top, so much so, that I spent quite a bit getting it altered as you can see in this post. I decided to invest in this shirt because when worn by itself, it is so much more interesting than just a boring button down.I also really like the idea of wearing a button down collared shirt as casual wear. It is such a sophisticated look don’t ya think? Not to mention a great way to assert that yes, I may be small, but I am indeed a full grown adult thankyouverymuch.

I’ll note here that I hate tucking in shirts. As anyone who has a short torso can attest, tucking in shirts only makes your torso look even shorter…which looks super awkward. It just gives me what I call “spider body”…i.e… no body and all legs. So, I left it hanging out for these pics. I also like to style my button downs (and jackets) with rolled sleeves, as I feel like the more skin I show in tops, the more presence I have. Any one else feel this way?

So…here go a few casual outfits I put together with the freshly tailored LOFT corsage button down. As you can see, I’m still rockin’ the skinny jeans…I’m slowly starting to really like them. Paige jeans are seriously the best thing ever!

With long layered necklaces and grey suede Cole Haans:
Switching it up with the Manolo Blahniks:

Adding a Banana Republic sweater, and short pearls:
Shirt: LOFT Striped Corsage Button Down, Size Petite 00 (torso and sleeves slimmed)

I like how the shirt can be layered, hiding the shoulder detail, making it look like a whole new shirt! I call the last one my “country club wife” look. All I need is a tennis racket and a Bloody Mary. =PHave a good weekend everyone!

    Love your outfit.

I can't pull off the button down casual look as well as you. Also, I roll up my sleeves too because it definitely makes me stand out more than my shirt.

    Thanks ladies!

PetiteAsianGirl – Well…great minds do think alike. =)

stylepint – Something about pushing or rolling up sleeves definitely makes it feel like I'm wearing the shirt, instead of the shirt wearing me. It must be a petite thing.

You seem to have a classic clothing personality with dramatic touch. I love that!
I would appreciate your feedback regarding the cut, style and wash/color on the Paige Blue heights Skinny – Winter Solstice, size 23.

Would you recommend them to skinny petite lady with no bottom, small hips and thicker ankles?

How do you find them in comparison to Laurel Canyon – McKinley?
    Thank you.

Would it be too much to ask to let me know what is the measurement of the knee and bottom leg opening of the Paige Blue heights Skinny – Winter Solstice, size 23. Thank you.

Hi Anonymous – The Blue Heights Skinny in size 23 are a nice stretchy fit. My McKinley Laurel Canyons are size 24, so they are a size larger than the Blue Heights, and so they are a little looser in the leg and thigh. The McKinley is also not as stretchy as some of the other Paige washes. The Winter Solstice wash is very stretchy which is nice. If you need a tighter fit than the McKinley, then the Winter Solstice is for you.

I like the Blue Heights because they are a little loose around the ankles, so if you have thick ankles, I think it would help hide them a bit. The Blue Heights are also very fitted in the hips and bottom, so if you are slim there, they should fit nice. I have an ample bottom, and have to really squeeze myself into these.

    Hope that helps!

It was very helpful. Thank you.
    Sorry, just one more question.

Is the leg opening of the Blue Heights Skinny in size 23 wide enough to wear them OVER the Linden bootie for unbroken line to elongate the leg? If so, could the hem reach the middle of the heel of the bootie.
    Thank you again.

Nope, the leg opening is too small to pull over a shoe like the Linden Bootie. But maybe a straight leg style would work?

I loved the "country club wife" look and my my friends from USA (I'm from Canada) were on the mission to find the Paige Blue heights Skinny – Winter Solstice in a rare size 23: http://www.paigepremiumdenim.com/Womens_Blue_Heights_Skinny__Winter_Solstice/pd/np/206/p/40000204.html
I ended up with an extra pair I would be willing to let it go and make other petite lady as happy as i am with my pair.

Dear Alteration Needed, please feel free to remove my comment at any time should you find it inappropriate. Thank you.
