I love love love pinstripes, so I pounced on these pants as soon as they arrived at Banana Republic last fall. It took me forever and a day to take to them to my tailor…and then a few more forevers to finally take them for a spin. You see, I had these slimmed and hemmed, but purposely kept them slouchy because that’s how I envisioned wearing them…plus, I figured if I ever want them more fitted, it’s easier to take in than to let out.

I think they look really cute slouchy, but there’s one big hitch. Slouchy pants shorten the leg line, which when you’re already short, can present you with a tragically stumpified version of yourself blinking back at you in the mirror. I scratched my head for weeks trying to figure out how to wear them without feeling like a hobbit. The best way I found to balance the slouch on bottom was to wear something with a little more fit and skin up top. The easy answer…t-shirts!

Oh yeah…and heels…definitely heels.

Bonus points – t-shirts bring a casual feel to what is otherwise a very “businessy” pair of pants.

Extra credit – it’s finally warm enough to work on my farmer tan.

I’d definitely say you were successful in avoiding looking shorter :) Love the way the diamond pattern in the purse plays on the two directions of stripes in your outfit!
