Sale update – Today is the last day for the majority of the Labor Day sales! I’ve updated & added sale info to the Weekend Links, so be sure to check it out!
I hope you’re all having a great holiday weekend! I’ve spent the holiday at home in San Diego, which isn’t at all terrible considering it’s freakin’ San Diego, and let’s face it, pretty much perfect all year round. Anyhoo…I have an outfit made of up of many lines for you today, from the chalk stripes in the blazer, contrast vertical trim on the shirt, down to the horizontal lines of the strappy sandals.
I also wanted to share some finds from Banana Republic, which has been killing it lately with their fall collection, and I expect will only get better once the collections under new Creative Director Marissa Webb hit stores starting next spring.
First up is this shirt, which is part of the Banana Republic non-iron shirt collection (my personal favorite shirts to shop). I remember a similar shirt that I missed out on a few seasons ago, so I’m happy to see it return in the non-iron fabric. It doesn’t come in petite, so I didn’t notice it online until Wendy wore it the last time we met up. After peppering her with questions, I was surprised to hear it fit so well (albeit slightly oversized) in regular sizes. Since picking it up for myself, I’ve already worn it several times and love the little dressy black trim detail that makes it stand apart in a sea of white dress shirts.
Second up are these simple sandals, which I love for a few reasons. First, they come in the shorter and more manageable heel height of 3 inches, which is my “everyday” heel sweet spot, and increasingly hard to find in a world obsessed with 4 inches and higher. Add to this the fact they come in as small as size 5, are simply detailed with slivers of gold hardware, and are well-priced compared to designer options of similar style, these have become fast favorites.

love the tipped shirt! i’ve been looking for a similar style for a long time, but haven’t found the right one yet. saw this itg interview on jenna lyons where she references her menswear inspired style and thought i should share – http://intothegloss.com/2014/08/jenna-lyons-j-crew/
Thanks for the link Kim! Jenna is great!
I have not shopped at BR in many years, I’m such a loyal JCrew fan! I may have to check out the new fall collection at BR, particularly the shirt you are featuring here. I am a size 0/2 or XS in JCrew’s shirts, what is the equivalent BR size?
What other items do you recommend at BR?
Thanks!
Hi Han! This shirt in size 0 fits similar to J.Crew size 00. Hopefully you can guestimate the right size for you from there. The non-iron shirts are BR are my hands down favorite! Nicer material and fit that J.Crew for my purposes. There is also a pair of pinstripe pants available right now that I picked up. They are a great price for 95% wool fabric content –> http://rstyle.me/n/mzvqmcz5
I really like how you styled this button down shirt. I never think of shopping at Banana Republic but I should give them a try since they have clothes that work for petites.
I’m surprised! BR is heavy on my petite sizes shopping rotation, along with J.Crew, and AT/LOFT. =)
