Fancy Pants – J.Crew Foulard

My favorite print (foulard!) in my favorite color, these pants were an obvious addition to my closet. My wardrobe color story has kept largely the same for several years, which makes an otherwise busy print easier to work with, and I love how it freshens up a simple white dress shirt. These pants did need some tailoring, which I’ll share in a later post.

The Manolo Blahnik BB is pretty much the perfect point-toe shoe, and these burgundy patents mark my third pair! Although, I’ve noticed they fit a little differently from color to color. Some run smaller, some run narrower, and some have higher or lower vamps compared to others. The vamp on these are really low, which freaked me out at first (so much toe cleavage!) but they fit like a dream!

They also serve as a great wardrobe upgrade to my old favorite pair of burgundy patent Cole Haan’s (seen here), which I finally got rid of in my last closet purge. The poor little things had been worn through past the patent layer in spots (my fault for not keeping up with their cobbler servicing) and made the most embarrassing squeaking sound with every step. I’m glad to have found a worthy replacement. ;)

  1. Love these pants and love your style. You never make compromises. I could always pick an outfit that you put together as you really do have your own style which has nothing to do with fashion and I admire that. Keep up the great work.

This is the most perfect outfit for your style! Can’t wait to see the alteration details because these pants fits so beautiful on you! I’ve been frustrated with pants lately..on finding ones that flatter…

  3. Wow. Looking back at your colour story post (which is still very relevant, by the way,) I noticed how much your style has changed since then! So much more grown up, tailored, and menswear inspired, and unique to you. Love seeing your journey in style!
