Vintage Bow Tie

One accessory that I really love right now is the bow tie. Instead of wearing them tied in a bow as most people do, I prefer to wear them untied, loosely draped around the neck. I think bow ties are so beautiful! Some vintage ones come long in wispy, beautiful printed silks that are almost like scarves, as the one I’m wearing here, and modern ones can be had in a bevy of quirky colors and fabrics. Worn draped around the neck, they can replace a necklace for an added bit of interest and movement to an outfit. My first was this vintage boy’s bow tie, and I’ve had my eyes peeled for interesting ones ever since.

Hi Kelly! This vintage tie is lovely! Sometimes I am tempted to take my husbands black bow tie and wear it out with a crisp shirt and a boxy blazer. I think I will do that one of these days :] Also, I am digging your loafer tan ;) I think I only recently recovered from an incredible TOMS tan. Oops

Ahh, someone else who shares my secret obsession! I love finding bow ties in thrift stores. They’re just so luxurious. I never buy them though because I could never find a good way of wearing them. I might get the next one I find and try this!

I’m in love with these blue pumps, and your silver Kate Spade pair, too. You’ve got such a great eye for classic, wearable heels.

I had missed this post. LOVE this outfit. A bit more casual than when you wear your blazers, of course, but still in keeping with your modern classic style. The unexpected bow tie as a scarf of sorts makes the outfit SO much more interesting and fun than just a silk blouse and jeans. And who cannot admire those beautifully shaped heels in that fab color!
