It’s a rare occasion I enjoy a dress! Shirt dresses never really go away, but this season has seen a lot more of them as designers hop on the menswear-trend band wagon. This particular piece strikes me as a shirt dress, but reimagined, upping its cool factor in my book.

This dress was generously gifted by the lovelies at Adela Mei, without whom I never would have discovered it, nor the new-to-me brand! Very few of the numerous PR pitches that come through my inbox everyday pique my interest, but Adela Mei grabbed my attention with their great idea, and tasteful curation. Adela Mei is a new shop that curates pieces and brands that flatter petite frames, models them on petite models (5’4″ and under), and provides detailed fit and measurement information. Any fellow shorties who dig through the usual e-commerce shops, scouring for items that look scandalously short or shrunken on their tall models, scrounging for measurement information or fit clues will appreciate how Adela Mei is working to help us out. ;)

As I explored the site, I clicked across this dress and it was love at first sight. The illusion of layering…the full skirt…the nipped waist…the point collar and hidden placket…perfection! And a new-to-me brand to boot (Canadian ladies…Eve Gravel is one of yours! Cool, right?).

  1. Woot to a Canadian designer! Kelly that dress looks amazing on you. And you have quite the eye. To be honest looking at the stock image I don’t think I’m very drawn to it but seeing it on you it looks so amazing!

Lovely surprise to see you in a dress! It looks very comfortable yet sophisticated, and I love the subtle colour. Nice choice. I’ll check out the Adela Mei website now.

Does the dress have an unfinished hem? Or am I imagining things? I did order one myself but I would likely get that altered if it does.
