Happy Black Friday! Who else is still sleeping off their turkey coma? I know I am…
I’ve got my comfy jeans on (nice and stretchy in all the right places for those hefty holiday meals), favorite fall ankle booties, cozy cotton long sleeve tee, and this glorious piece of herringbone blazer goodness that’s pretty much been my uniform as of late. I’m normally not a huge fan of those super stretchy legging style jeans, but MY GOD are they amazing when you know you’re going to eat your weight in stuffing and need some room to expand. Everyone needs at least one pair in case of comfort emergencies.
And thanks to Black Friday, many of the pieces I’m wearing are currently available at a discount (most thanks to Shopbop’s current promo), like the blazer (sizes keep popping back so check often, but it’s also at Nordstrom but not on sale), jeans, and ankle boots. More exciting pieces on sale include my beloved leather biker jacket by Allsaints (the cropped and fitted silhouette is great for petites) and the embellished belt I’m wearing (great for wrapping around coats/blazers).
This blazer is one of my favorite recent acquisitions as my love of herringbone runs deep and burns bright. The long length on the model translates to a blazer/coat hybrid on my height, but the short and fitted sleeves combined with a snug shoulder (I was able to snag a xxs for a super narrow shoulder fit, but I imagine a xs wouldn’t be far off) keep it looking sharp. Since I’m just wearing it over a simple t-shirt, I added some bling by way of a statement necklace and embellished leather wrap bracelet.
This necklace is another piece I’m pretty proud of. Inspired by the fun and edgy pieces by Dylanlex but put off by the high prices and less than ideal materials, I’ve spent some time looking for better-priced sterling silver traditional jewelry to recreate the look. If anyone is interested in the same, do a search for “Rajasthan jewelry” and you’ll see some gorgeous traditional pieces from a region in India that has heavily inspired the current tribal-boho-edgy jewelry trends. If anyone with better knowledge of that region of the world has more suggestions for similar jewelry types to explore, I’d love to hear!
Anyway, I picked up this sterling silver piece on Etsy for a fraction of Dylanlex prices. It’s gorgeously detailed and heavy (I like heavy necklaces), and will be the perfect base for other necklaces to create that layered “Dylanlex” look. I have an idea of what I want its layering companion to look like but haven’t found the perfect piece yet. As a “collector” personality type, the search is half the fun. =)
Happy holiday weekend and safe travels!

Calleen Cordero bracelet has been shortened and a hole added (I used a leather hole punch)
This tweed long jacket has that special elegant vibe that is both dressy and edgy. I like the way you styled it with a simple black top tucked into skinny jeans worn with black booties. It’s an ideal look for everyday walks.
Best,
Ines
I love your style in this outfit. I am also in search of this kind of blazer coat.
This is such a cute look! I could totally rock this at my job as well! I am obsessed!

Hi. I love your ankle boots. They have high heels, which is great for a petite and these heels look pretty comfy too, which is great for a teacher. Love, Lieske
Can you describe how you keep your blazer sleeves scrunched up without constantly adjusting while walking, working, etc.?
Thank you for sharing. I just want to let you know that I really like your blog.
