Short Trench

Many a time is the question posed by a significant other to the avid clothing shopper, “And, why exactly do you need that?” So imagine this avid shopper’s surprise when the opposite statement was made by my significant other some time ago, “you really do need a short trench in your closet”. Duly noted and challenge accepted!

I love a longer traditional trench but have to admit, it can be overkill for a SoCal rainstorm, not to mention hard for someone as short as myself to wear with flats. This short trench from Banana Republic is a pretty nice little jacket, adds just a sprinkle of trench flavor without going overboard, and looks great with flats. Perfecto!

For those who like pleats and peplums, the jacket is pleated all around, which adds a nice touch, although makes the pockets a little tough to find (I keep stuffing my hands in pleats in search of those sweet, sweet pockets). It’s also a nice, thick 100% cotton which I appreciate (the product page says cotton/linen, but the inner tag says cotton). For sizing references, I’m wearing size xxs petite, and my measurements can be found here.

Hi Kelly! I ordered this jacket a few days ago in both navy and khaki even though I was unsure how the pleats would look. What a nice coincidence because I love how it looks on you! Looking forward to receiving the jackets and trying them on :)

You just gave me an idea! I have an old BR trench that comes down to my knees that I never wear. It looks like I’d be able to have it shortened to the length of the trench you are wearing.

      What do you think?

I do like the look of the short trench on you very much!
