A plain black tee under a blazer isn’t very exciting…but if you throw a wrap belt over it, all of a sudden the look becomes elevated. I like this belt paired with this blazer for a few reasons:
- the longer menswear-inspired length is well proportioned to be belted at the waist. Shrunken blazers just don’t work as well styled similarly.
- the menswear-inspired pinstripe is feminized very nicely by being cinched at the waist, creating an hourglass or “x” shape. I love that feminine/masculine juxtaposition!
- a wrap belt is generally casual and boho, but when paired with such a masculine power-suiting piece, they meet in the middle to create a kind of casual luxury. I feel they both work to make the other look richer.

So casual chic. I love the tie belts and how it structures the whole look. I have been into leather ties and just did a post on my blog on leather tie chokers.
