Back in the day, I was a bit of a sneaker-head. Growing up near the beach in LA, surf and skate culture reigned king, with the local surf shop my shoe store of choice. Having small feet meant I could sport the latest skate shoe of the season in boy’s sizes, at half the price. Whoo!
In college, I found a favorite with the Puma classic suedes, and can’t even count how many pairs of classic black and whites I went through as I punished them with my daily skate board commute to class and weekend slog through keg parties. My suede Puma’s continued to carry me through my first few years working in biotech labs, where they were the perfect beat-up sneaker to survive bleach and liquid nitrogen spills. Tough little suckers!
How strange it is then that I haven’t worn a sneaker in at least five years…maybe more! Honestly, it’s been so long, I’ve forgotten. I resisted the siren song of the “fashion sneaker“, but seeing them everywhere has brought a sparkle back to my eye for my beloved suede classics.
So, this week I went back to my roots and picked up a new pair of fresh kicks. But to switch things up, I opted to forgo my usual Pumas for the suede Adidas Campus, boy’s sizes of course. That light grey and white palette just melts my heart!
Tip: count down 1.5 shoe sizes from your usual women’s shoe size to get your boy’s shoe size. I’m usually a women’s size 5, so counting 1.5 sizes down makes me a boy’s size 3.5.

Thanks for this post! I always forget about kids shoes. I’m wondering if you have favorite socks. I’m between a 5.5 and 6 and have a hard time finding socks that fit well. Any suggestions?
Thanks Laura! I’ve been enjoying Stance ( http://amzn.to/1OB8HLx – the low cut ones) and Ked’s ( http://amzn.to/1Wr7FDa – sizing says 9-11 but I’ve found they work pretty well for my size 5 feet ) for my ankle boots, and hope they translate for my sneakers also! Back in the day, I wore my sneakers with boot cut jeans, so I didn’t need to worry about no-show socks.
I’m not normally a sneaker person, but I’m loving the colour combo on those ones! Thanks for the heads up :D
Thanks Cassie! =)
Those kicks look so comfy, love the color palette as well. Thanks for the tip on finding my kids shoe size! :)

These kicks look great! And to boy sizes is genius especially when they don’t have them in women’s. Thanks so much for the tip!

Hi – long time reader first time comment-leaver, but I saw your post title and couldn’t resist. I really like the color of your sneakers!

Each to their own but I definitely prefer you in a more sophisticated shoe.
Very nice look! Great sneakers!
I had no idea you worked in b iotech! what field are you in now?
Love this post and the outfit. I have been looking for these Adidas Campus shoes in a while, but I can’t find them in my size (6 US W). So i was wondering where you found yours?
What is the style of jeans called from Zara?!? Love them !
Hi Sophie! Unfortunately these jeans are long gone from Zara and I forgot exactly what they were called. However, they are from the TRF line, and I sized up one size. Hopefully they will add more similar washes because they are really great!
Agreed with Sophie! The wash and fit of those jeans is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Any idea if Zara still has them?? ☺️
Hi Kristie! Unfortunately these jeans are long gone from Zara and I forgot exactly what they were called. However, they are from the TRF line, and I sized up one size. Check back often because they get new styles in all the time.
Hey Kelly where did you find the boys adidas?
Thanks,
Marissa
