New York Fashion Week starts tomorrow, and while I’m not there (freezing my ass off in a snow storm a few years ago has made the February shows very unappealing for this California girl), I can’t help but feel this season is a bit important. Recent events indicate this round of fashion weeks may be the last fashion weeks as we know them. Thanks to fast fashion and digital instant gratification, the old merchandising schedule isn’t working anymore, and a trickle of designers are announcing a change to the way they do things (recent announcements from Burberry, Vetements & Tom Ford).
Ideas floating around include shifting the fashion show schedules so the clothes marching down the runway become actual merch in stores directly after the shows (vs. the 4-6 month lead time the industry currently employs), and turning fashion week from invite only exclusive shows into a public event. Only time will tell what special sauce helps align the fashion industry with the changing needs of consumers, but the next few fashion weeks should be interesting to watch.
Speaking of watching…my favorite designer, Marissa Webb, shows her fall/winter 16′ collection tomorrow today! She expertly mixes the masculine and feminine, and I look forward to seeing what clever ways she’ll separate me from my money this year. Sorry, wallet. No, actually, not sorry. Watch the live stream on her website starting at 3:15pm ET/12:15pm PT.
And, speaking of Marissa Webb, anyone interested in this vest will be happy to hear it’s on really great sale right now at Intermix, with all sizes still available! I had my tailor slim it only slightly, but it was a really close fit off-the-rack in size P if you’re a similar size to myself. Petites, take note…cropped styles like this help trick the eye into making you look taller than you are. ;)

Great info! By the way, after discovering your blog several weeks ago and reading all the wonderful tips, I purchased the petite hangers. I love them!! I had no idea those existed and suffered the same problem as you and other super petites. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate! :-)
Cute crop vest on you and love that the fabric looks very sturdy and polished!
