Black, Tan & Restocked Leopard Pumps

Happy Monday, everyone! As I mentioned in Friday’s post, I realized J.Crew brought these calf hair leopard pumps back this season. I remember hemming and hawing over whether or not to order them last year, and then before I could make up my mind, they sold out. I’m not sure if they’ll be as popular this year, but if you’re interested, I’d keep an eye on these.

They are a really nice leopard print, in a classic point toe shape that rivals that of more expensive brands such as Gianvito Rossi and Manolo Blahnik. I also love the shorter 3 inch heel, which I’ve determined to be my ideal heel height, and have been slowly upgrading my shoe wardrobe. These run pretty narrow, and I was able to make a size 5.5 (marked 5h on the site) work with just the addition of some ball-of-foot pads (these look similar to the ones I used, but these also look cool!). For reference, I’m usually a size 4.5 – 5, with the size 5 in the suede Elsie a really good fit, no pads needed.

Ah, that jacket is great! Re: the shoulder narrowing alteration– have you done this often? I’ve thought about doing this to some old jackets I have, but it seems like a high risk/high reward kind of thing, ha!

    1. Thanks J.! I have had a lot of jackets narrowed in the shoulder, and it’s an expensive and scary alteration to have done if you’re not entirely sure your tailor can handle it. I tend to leave it up to tailors who specialize or are really good at menswear alterations, since they deal with shoulders when tailoring men’s suiting more often than a tailor who specializes in women’s alterations would. You can also expect it to cost anywhere from $75 – $150, depending on where you live, how specialized your tailor is, and how complicated the alteration is. But, when you have a tailor that does great shoulder work, it’s a magical thing! ;)
