I’m a much bigger fan of buying the individual pieces that create layered looks than of buying those clothing pieces that come attached and pre-layered (like this or this). For example, I love the look of leather-sleeved blazers and coats, but much prefer the versatility of the classic leather-less versions. I also slightly fear the day those pieces fall off trend and look dated, so I prefer not to invest too heavily in them. Instead, I look for pieces or accessories I can add to my existing items that can create those on-trend looks.
These leather sleeves are a prime example of just that. A classic navy double-breasted blazer gets a breath of new life and an edgier look with the addition of some leather sleeves. The best part is, I can switch them around to other blazers, coats, or even sweaters as I did last year.
