I just wanted to share a recent find that happens to be on great sale, with an extra 40% off for US customers with code ZING (Note: sale items are final sale. Promo will probably end by the end of this week), and available in a size that would fit like-sized readers, no alterations needed.
I love the idea of layering bustier tops (and crop tops for that matter) over full-length wardrobe items, with my item of choice being button-ups, but tees and dresses would work as well. I came across this bodice because I am really loving everything windowpane, and thought a bustier or crop top in this print would be fun to layer with. It arrived the other day and I love it! The cut-outs and design is really interesting, and it looks great layered under a jacket for a peek of pattern. It also comes in white with black grid pattern which I think is equally as cute.
For like-sized readers, this top fits comfortably with an under-layer, but would need a tiny bit of slimming if I wanted to wear it as a stand-alone top (which luckily, I don’t). There are silicone strips along the inside to help keep it in place. It zips up the back.
I’m wearing size xxs, which has the following measurements:
Bust: 14″
Waist: 11 3/4″
Length (from top tip to bottom tip): 10 3/4″
Please note: this item is listed as final sale
Items in this post: Keepsake bodice – Banana Republic shirt – Rag & Bone jeans (mine are the non-crop version) – Larsson & Jennings watch – nuLOOM rug (Diamond Grey)
I’m loving windowpane lately as well, and your post may have convinced me to get that bodice! I was just wondering, what size are you in the BR button-down? I’m always nervous to order button-down blouses online in fear of the buttons popping across my chest!
Hi Sophia! Most of my BR button-up shirts are size 00petite (including the one I’m wearing here). For a longer shirt-tail (which I like to wear for certain layers), and/or more oversized fit, I’ve been buying the regular size 0 (there is a bust dart, which is too low on me in the regular size, but for layering it works well…and sometimes I just don’t care). The 00p is my perfect size…the sleeves are slim, arm holes are high, shoulder is small, and overall look is fitted without being tight. I’m a size 30C bra, and have no issues with pulling in the chest. Would a post like this one featuring the BR button-up shirt be helpful?
Thank you for your reply, Kelly! Banana Republic is having a moment for me right now, so I’ve been shopping there a lot lately. I’m a 32DD, but with a 25″ waist, so it can be difficult to find shirts which don’t pull in the chest but fit my small frame. A post featuring this BR button-up shirt would be awesome!
I just came across a similar bodice, and it’s quite inexpensive as well!

Thanks for the link Sophia! That’s really similar!
I love how you layered the bodice on a the button down shirt. It really gives the shirt a shape. I love it i. I would love to try this.
XOXO,
Elle
Thanks Elle! Tops like these are so popular in cheaper teen shops, especially for spring, I bet you can find a cute one to play with to see if you like how it looks. ;)
Wow – I LOVE this look and that bustier is pretty unique. I like that it’s sexy but tailored and pattern almost makes it business appropriate :P
You styled it perfectly!
Thanks Elaine! So true! If I pop a black blazer on top, you can’t tell how edgy the top is, and it gives a very interesting but professional looking pop of pattern. =)
Your watch!! I’ve been trying to find a place that ships to the US and has free returns for the 33mm since forever. Thank you so much for linking it! Quick question though, does the watch fit your wrist? Or did you have to punch more holes in the strap?
Hi Pauline! I was waiting for that exact same thing! As soon as I saw NAP had it, I ordered. It’s safe to say it was love at first sight. The watch fits my wrist on the very last factory made hole. If you like your watches to fit snug without moving, it would probably need one more to be punched.
I really love the way you layered a chic bustier over a classic shirt, the whole look is very stylish and sleek! Thanks for the inspiration!
