Sweater weather is slowly creeping in, and I can finally bring this J.Crew petite merino cardigan out. J.Crew has made petites for a while now, but new this season are petite sweaters. Also new this season is the return of the short, grandpa style v-neck cardigan! These things have just kept getting longer and longer every season, but this year J.Crew made me very happy with two short versions…one in cashmere and one in merino.
Cropped v-neck cardigans are my favorite for a few reasons. The cropped length is way more flattering, they layer great under blazers and coats, the v-neckline is elongating, and when buttoned they form a nice “X” that accentuates a waist.
After trying a slew of sizes including regular and petites, I decided to keep a petite for the shorter length, but size up one for a slouchier fit. I also wanted to give the sweater some room in case it shrinks in the wash since merino has historically slowly shrunk over time for me.

I actually really like this look. Most fashion blogs I find to be more inspirational, but this look is really attainable and I could actually see myself wearing the whole look. I love the green :)

Hi Carol! Exactly! I also appreciate that J.Crew has more 100% wool sweaters vs. other retailers that add a lot of synthetics. Ann Taylor has a similar v-neck cardigan right now in petite (http://altsneed.co/bldn), but it’s not 100% wool like this J.Crew version. It’s nice that petites have a resource for natural fibers this season!
