This year, I wanted to add a pair of summer sandals to my wardrobe that met a few requirements. 1) they should be somewhere in the color family of my skin tone, to minimize contrast and the potential to “cut off” my leg-line when wearing shorts and skirts. 2) they should be a low to mid heel height. I find it harder to walk in higher heel heights in hot weather, maybe because the heat tires me out quickly, and/or sweat can make shoes slick, making it easy to slide right down the incline of higher heels. 3) they should have a covered back, because the dryest, ickiest part of the foot always ends up being the heel, and I don’t want to be self-conscious if I forget to exfoliate/lotion up back there. 4) the ankle strap should be adjustable enough to fit my narrow ankles.
The hardest thing to find was a pair with a good fitting ankle strap, until I started looking at self-tie versions. My favorite of the self-tie sandals I found were these suede ones from Alexandre Birman. Now that I’ve had them for a little while, self-tie ankle straps are my new favorite things! The one-size-fits-most ankle straps on many shoes don’t fit me well, so having the ability to just wrap and knot these where I want them is awesome. These have made me a self-tie sandal convert.
If these came in size 35, I’d snatch them up, but unfortunately it’s not meant to be. In the mean time, I’m hoping these in black pop up in my size at some point. Too cute!

I agree there’s something about hot summer weather that I prefer wearing lower heels or flats! Love the idea of a self-tie ankle strap! I always hate it when the usual buckle-straps don’t fit right due to hole placements or worn-out holes. I also love the color of your those sandals to match your tan!
