Silk Tuxedo Blouse and Leather Details – Marissa Webb Ryleigh Blouse

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and are in the midst of fun plans for New Years Eve! As for myself, I took a bit of a mental vacation last week, relaxing, eating, and catching up with family and friends.

This beautiful blouse has been at the top of my wish-list since its debut at the fall shows last February. A tuxedo blouse on it’s own is a nice way to up the ante on the simple white dress shirt, but it’s the extra details of this one that really grabbed my attention. From the silk and lace pintucks, to the french cuffs and hidden placket, the blouse itself is a beautiful tuxedo style to add to any wardrobe, but by far my favorite detail is the detachable leather bow tie. The mix of silk and leather, feminine and masculine, all just feels so smartly done with a twist of humor. As an added bonus, it’s by Marissa Webb, a new designer whose work I’ve been really loving.

This blouse is currently at the tailor getting a facelift, but I couldn’t wait to wear her at least once before dropping her off. Luckily, she looked great after some tucking and layering for quick errand running before heading home for the holidays.

I love Marissa Webb!! I just got the same blouse and love it. I’m curious as to what alterations you’re having done to it. Are you making it more fitted?

    1. Isn’t Marissa Webb’s line great?! Glad to hear you’re also loving the blouse! I can’t wait to get her home so I can play with her some more. =)

Because I’m so short, it needed some work as far as shortening the length, shortening the sleeves, as well as slimming it a bit so it draped better on my frame. I’m really narrow shouldered as well, so I’m having the shoulder taken in a bit too. I have before photos that I still need to download and edit, but I’ll post them when I get her back from the tailor.
