As soon as I saw this brooch, all I wanted was to put it on this blazer. The shiny gold plays well off the sheen of green velvet. The subject and chunky size hints at the opulence trend, from which velvet rose to popularity. Match, made.
I basically wore some semblance of this outfit all holiday break. For brunch with friends I wore black velvet smoking slippers (a new fav), and changed to patent heels for evening cocktails. Luckily I was seeing so many different groups of people, I think only one person caught me in this outfit twice. =)

Love that brooch and the emerald velvet blazer! It’s inspiring me to take my black velvet blazer out from the back of the closet and get it altered….
Do it! Now is such a good time to pull it out and get some wear out of it. =)
Dearest Kelly,
Lovely brooch; even though its proportions are a bit large for the lapel… You do make good use of your favorite clothes and that’s important!
Have a happy week ahead.

Hi Mariette. Thank you! As for the brooch size…I wanted it that way! LOL. I really wanted something chunky since all my brooches are so small and dainty. Besides…sometimes imperfection is more fun that perfection. =)
the gold on green is gorgeous! i do the same thing with outfits if i’m going to be with a different group of people!
LOL! It’s just so easy to recycle the same outfit…hehe.
I am obsessed with vintage brooches right now! I think there is tons of potential to jazz up outfits. I’m glad to see that you think the same :)
Totally agree! Vintage brooches are so much fun & can be had for such great prices on the second hand market. =)
Hi Kelly, may I know what size you got for these Cole Haan smoking slippers? The reviews say they run small. It would be great if you could help! Many thanks. :)
Hi Jane! I got size 5 (my normal Cole Haan size) and they are very snug, even for Cole Haan. I thought about exchanging them for a 5.5, but since shoes tend to stretch, I stuck with them and they’ve worked out. I like my shoes snug, so my regular size worked, but if you don’t like snug fitting shoes, try a 1/2 size bigger and maybe add shoe pads if they’re a tad loose. Hope that helps!
Gorgeous!
very cute!
This is AMAZING! I love the idea of the door knocker, I’m a leo so love all lion items :)
Love the brooch! It looks perfect with your green velvet blazer. Love the photography here, too–so pretty!
I really love this look, digging the brooch! Actuallyy am now searching for one! And I’m obsessed with that jacket.
I’m loving the brooch. So cute and a great focal piece!
love the blazer! the color, the broach…everything…can’t wait to see how you will style it next…

Love the gold and green blazer together! Well played. I also wore the same outfit all last weekend (J.Crew blazer, button down, and skinny jeans) only because I was seeing diff sets of people as well LOL. First the Rag and Bone blazer and now repeating the same attire. We must be kindred spirits.
it looks perfect with the blazer! what a gorgeous outfit. xox P

So you Kelly! Lion like Leo LOL! Does the brooch leave holes in your blazer?
Thanks Elaine! There’s no visible holes on this blazer, probably thanks to the thicker material, dark color, and sheen of the velvet. I do have holes in my cotton blazers from brooches, but only if you look closely. =P
