AG Stilt Cigarette jean in “Wine”, size 24 (need a hem & waist taken in) :: Theory blazer, size 00 :: Old Navy sweater, size XS :: Ann Taylor Perfect Patent Belt, size XS :: Christian Louboutin Simple 85 Pumps, size 35 :: Linen pocket square from Italy :: Chanel East/West Handbag :: Jewelry – Honora pearl necklace, jet bead necklace, sterling silver bangles
Same outfit…different pants. I loved the vibrant mustard color, but I feel much more at ease in this darker, rich maroon.
These AG Stilt Cigarette jeans have a very subtle sateen finish to them and thanks to the modal blend fabric, are incredibly soft to the touch. But my favorite part is the color. Called “wine”, the deep purplish red is a sophisticated and toned down take on the colored pant trend. In a perfect world, they would have less creases in the front, but after trying on dozens of ill-fitting pants in similar hues, I’m more than happy to declare these keepers. They will need a hem and the waist taken in, but those are easy alterations that I get done often.
The pocket square is a linen handkerchief my parent’s brought back from their recent trip to Italy. One corner is decorated with lace and a fancy embroidered “K”. It’s from a little island near Venice called Burano which is known for their lacework. Such a special little piece to tuck into my blazer breast pocket!
And, in case you’re wondering…these are way more flattering to the ol’ behind than the mustard pair:
The back pockets are smaller and placed higher, which is much more flattering to my frame.
These jeans are available at Piperlime (15% off if you use your Banana Republic card with code LUXE2011), Revolve, and the AG website. They also come in a pretty fall rust and mulberry.

Yay, I love it! Congratulations, Kelly, on finding the winner!
ooooh I loooove the colour of those jeans!! They look fabulous on you! The little handkerchief sounds so cute! Would love to see a close up shot of the details.
Thanks Elaine! I tried on this photoshoot but the lighting was funky & and I couldn’t get a good one. I’m sure I’ll wear it again soon and hopefully get a better shot of it. :)
Lovely!
oh i’ve been anxiously awaiting your wine-colored pants that worked for you. these fit you PERFECTLY and couldn’t be more flattering! i can’t wait to see how you style these in different outfits!
I love the story behind your pocket square! Are you of Italian decent, too?
I am so glad these are keepers!! I still don’t think the mustard pants had a horrible backview, but these are definitely better!!
And you have me wishing the clock was turned back an hour or more so I could have some wine!! :p
Mmm…some pinot noir sounds delish right about now…
Nope, I’m not Italian. I’m half Puerto Rican and half Irish…hence the weird ambiguous ethnicity thing I have going on…hehe. My Puerto Rican side is pretty closely tied to Spain, so my parents like to vacation there every few years. They were on one such vacation when they visited Italy. I’m just jealous they never take me!
Ooh, I’m officially now on the prowl for maroon skinnies. Love!
Sah-weet! They are seriously so freakin’ fabulous, I find myself day-dreaming about outfit possibilities all the time.
Loooove those pants! They are definitely the best pair from your search.
oh I love these! where did you get them?

I got these from Piperlime with 15% off by using my Banana Republic card and code LUXE2011. They are also available from Revolve, and the AG website but sizes are going fast. Some other brands have similar colors, including JBrand and Paige, or more AG colors include rust and mulberry.
Kelly, I love those pants! I’ve been looking for a pair for a while now – except for a pair of bright pink pants, all my pants are black, grey, blue (several different washes of denim) and a couple of tan/camel ones. It’s to the point that I’m on a black clothing shopping ban right now!
Ha! You sound like me…I had dark denim, dark denim…and dark denim. Up until those black Ann Taylor knit pants, I was all jean, all the time. I now have these wine pants, and a pair of army green Paige jeggings which you’ll see in my next outfit post. Sounds like we both have more branching out to do! :P
you look great Kelly. Glad you found what you were looking for. I love modal. makes everythg so soft.
Seriously! Modal is wonderful! I was shocked to feel how soft these pants were when they arrived.
You look amazing in these pants! Fits and looks great on you! The color is perfect too!
Just discovered your blog, and I’m so happy to have found it. I’m not quite as petite as you, but I still have trouble shopping. I love looking at fashion blogs and I love clothes, but I actually really hate the physical act of shopping because NOTHING FITS! But you have given me hope. Also, those pants look great.

Thanks Amy, and thank you so much for reading! Yes, there is hope! First…check out my blogroll and discover all the great petite fashion blogs that are out there! Pretty soon, you’ll have to STOP yourself from buying clothes because there’s too much good stuff being reviewed by fellow petites out there. Second, finding a great tailor is golden. Your wardrobe will thank you. :)
Love the pants! I’ll definitely be paying attention to (/copying) how you style them, seeing as I recently acquired a pair in almost exactly the same shade!
Oh…do tell! Where are your pants from? :)
They’re from PacSun and border a bit more on “legging” than “jean” territory, but I’m still determined to keep styling them!
I love the maroon pants on you – I’ve been looking for a pair after the Gap cord leggings didn’t work on me :( I’ll try these next. You are looking chic as always! :)
Thanks Katherine! I bought the GAP cord leggings too and didn’t like them. I could only get my hands on the “rust” and they were a little too 70’s looking for me. Plus the rise and crotch did weird things on me. These are less tight in the calf, but I like my pants like that. Plus, I like that they’re not corduroy, since that seems to be the trend in colored pants this season.
OMG yes. The crotch!! It was doing all kinds of weird things on me in those pants – LOL
i love this wine colour! it’s perfect for fall and the shape is relatively flattering (minus the unfortunate crotch bunching). baby got back, and it looks pretty good ! lol creeper me
Love your pants. That’s a beautiful color Kelly :)
Great outfit! Love how you provide sales info on your blog. I’m ready to shop & save $! :)
