Petite Ann Taylor & Banana Republic Outlet Finds

What better way to spend a holiday weekend than by hitting up the local outlet mall? As I mentioned in the weekend guide, there were a few good sales to be had, so I dragged the boyfriend and Clinton to the local outlet mall.

There is still one more day (Monday) to get in on these sales, so I wanted to get this up for your three-day-weekend shopping pleasure.

Now…on to the goodies!

Ann Taylor Factory (Outlet):

The Ann Taylor Factory is offering 40% off the entire store, and since it was my first time going to an AT outlet, I was happy to see my size xxsp in stock. I picked up this little chiffon ruffle shell in black:

Ann Taylor Chiffon Ruffle Blouse 2 600
Shell – Ann Taylor Factory, size xxsp (tag)
ShoesCole Haan Carma Open Toe Pump in Wine Patent, size 5

Look how cute it looks under a blazer:

Blazer – Theory Amanda B., size 00

Jean has the original version of this top from 2009 in soft pewter, and mentioned the outlets also have this color available. I may call today and see if I can snag it because the shell is really cute, and that color is divine!

Price – 40% off the regular price of $39.99 = $24.00

I was also happy to see the floral front shell make a re-appearance, since I love my original one to death. My AT outlet didn’t have any petites left in store, but I was able to have a sales associate order one for me in “winter white” in size xxsp from another store. Shipping is free if you have an Ann Taylor card, and about $7.50 if you don’t.

Price – 40% off the regular price of $39.99 = $24.00.

Check out Jean’s Ann Taylor Factory haul, since we got a lot of the same items.

I also picked up this pretty snakeskin stamped leather belt in size xs. Interestingly, I thought size xs would be the same as the regular Ann Taylor belt size xs. However, when I got home, I compared my belts and the Ann Taylor Outlet size xs is closer to the regular Ann Taylor size s. Weird huh?

Banana Republic Factory (Outlet):

Banana Republic Factory stores are offering up to 60% off the entire store, and an extra $15 off $100+ with this coupon. Also, if you sign up as a “VIP” on the outlet website, you can print a VIP coupon for 20% off $100+. I didn’t see much that caught my eye at Banana Republic, but I did find a 100% silk button up:

Banana Republic Silk Blouse 1 600
Banana-Republic-Silk-Blouse-Back-and-Side
Blouse – Banana Republic Factory silk blouse, size 00P (tag)

Like most silk blouses, it’s a roomy fit, but I’m going to try and make it work. I image it tucked into jeans, or un-buttoned and belted with a cute shell underneath. The fabric feels like a sueded silk, and is nice and heavy to the touch. The silk was nice, and the price was right, so hopefully I can make it work without having to alter it.

Price – 40% off the regular price of $49.99 = $29.99.

I was so ecstatic when I got Jean's tweet about the shells and bought ALL the colors!! Lol and got both colors in the petal shell! Been waiting forever for both!!!

I wasn't going to buy black but saw it today at the outlet in person and picked it up:-) only one lonely XXSP so how could I resist?

Yay… glad to see the shell fits another tiny petite! I ordered 3 sight unseen lol (along with the petal shell too)… when Jean tweets, i want to buy! :P So excited to get mine now. I almost picked up an animal print belt from the AT factory store the last time I was there… had no idea their sizing differs though, good thing we have belt hole punchers! The BR shirt is indeed slouchy on you, but would love to see how you style it!

I agree with Liane. I almost tried on that BR shirt this weekend but I couldn't see myself making any exciting outfits. Will be very curious to see how you style it. I also got the shells this morning after seeing jean's tweets. Cant wait!!!

thumbs up for belt hole puncher!

So I assume you went to AT factory @ las americas? well gosh, so many ppl bought this shell. Is it even worth a try to find one myself? I wish I can see a swatch of every color. How much is shipping again?

I love the ruffles on that shell! It looks perfect under a blazer.

It may not be a holiday weekend here in the UK, but I had two online finds from the girls' department at John Lewis (a big department store chain)… navy patent ballet flats for £12 (just under $20), and leggings marked down to £1.60! John Lewis quality is pretty good in my experience – way above fast-fashion quality – so I have high hopes for the shoes especially. Better yet, they offer an instore collection service that's effectively free shipping if you live nearby.

I love the mannequin pics where you show the exact measurements. I know that must take a lot of time (dressing the manni, pics, Photoshop, measuring) but I'm sure many of your readers appreciate it!

I tried on that BR silk camp shirt too and was interested in this bright coraly orange color! But I already have something like that it it was still a little pricey for me. Instead I am keeping a chambray shirt from Target that looks almost exactly like your blue BR one…LOL! Same pockets, same rolled up sleeves, but much more casual material.

How do you keep your petal shell from last year from getting super pilly? I must have asked you this before, but when I brought mine out for photos yesterday I was appalled at how bad the pilly situation really was. I even shave it with a sweater shaver after every few wears and it's still almost un-presentable!

Really really interesting about the outlet belt XS. I' glad you showed that. Usually we see XS and just blindly buy, thinking it's going to be smaller than an S. Like Liane said – thank goodness for the hole punchers. Was that belt real leather? I sifted around and couldn't find any real leather belts to buy.

Lastly – yes yes get the soft pewter. It's just such a delicate and feminine color. I even love the name of it. Don't tell anyone..but I got another Soft Pewter to replace my aging, low-necklined, and pilly one from 2009 : /

@PetiteXXS – Yup, the belt fits my hips, but not my waist…but nothing a leather hole puncher won't fix. I haven't played with the silk blouse yet, but I hope I can make it work. :P Jean tweets the best deals doesn't she?

@AnnieKuro – Hehe…let's hope I can make something interesting with the BR silk blouse! I think a lot of us got those ruffle shells…another petite favorite thanks to Jean's sharp shopping skills!

@AubreyOhDang! – Yup, I went to Las Americas for the FIRST TIME! I was a little shocked to be that close to Mexico…I could almost touch the huge Mexican flag on the giant hill…LOL. Try calling for the shells! I'm going to give it a shot at finding the ruffle shell in soft pewter at 10am sharp when they open!

  8. says: Alterations Needed

@Frankincensy – Oh wow! You scored some great deals! I've never heard of John Lewis, but I've also never been to the UK. :)

@PetiteAsianGirl – LOL…it's surprisingly hard to dress a fabric covered mannequin with clothes…you can tell I've never worked retail. :P

I was reminded of your silky button down when I found this one at BR, and thought I'd snatch it and see if I can make it work. For the quality of silk, it was a great price. Finger's crossed!

As for the petal shell, yeah, it's pilly. I use a sweater shaver, but it never gets fully smooth. I've also been dry cleaning it instead of machine washing, so they usually do a little shaving on it as well. The piling is worse where the top rubs against my handbag. *sigh*

Yeah, I blindly bought the xs (I did a quick "around the waist" check and thought it was the same size as my regular AT xs belt. Then I got it home and realized it was bigger! Grrr! Yup, it's real leather. Probably depends on the belt, I saw some patent looking belts that looked a bit plasticy. Thanks goodness for leather hole punchers!

Hehe…I would have bought the second soft pewter too. :P

No Carlsbad this time around. I took my first trip to Las Americas. No Theory, but they have a BR and AT.

@Miss. Studios – Thanks! It's a pretty top, but yes, a little roomy. I hope I can find a way to rein in the fabric. ;)

I called las americas this morning and none in stock. I'm patiently waiting for a Christine to call me back to see if she can find any more in other stores but haven't heard from her. I hope she didn't forget me! My brother's family is in town this week so unfortunately no time to run down there. Haha and I think it's crazy how you literally can see Tijuana from Las Americas! It's like night and day as well…

  10. says: kileen

wow, i love that shell!! i've been saving the outlet shopping for today (Monday) so hopefully they'll still have some left. thanks for the post on the measurements. looks like a winner!

  11. says: Callandra

Great job Kelly!…(and Jean was right, I really do appreciate the exact measurements of the items you post)…very helpful!!

  12. says: Alterations Needed

@grace – I called Las Americas and they found one for me in Camarillo. You can try calling that store and ask them to ship: (805) 383-0482.

@Canadianpetite – Black and white are such a great color combo, aren't they? Glad the measurements are helpful! ;)

@kileen – Good luck outlet shopping today! Hope you can find it.

@a girl with two legs – Glad you figured it out! You beat me to the answer! So you have one coming? Yay! :)

@Callandra – Thanks! I'm glad the measurements were helpful. ;)

  13. says: curls-and-pearls

Ah so gorgeous Kelly, the picture are so great too. Thank you for the measurements as well. I am so unskilled and figuring out how something will fit me so this helps me for comparison with my currently clothes! Also – I never really know where to take the measurements from so this is perfect!

  14. says: Michelle

I love that shell! So glad both you and Jean picked one up!

That silk blouse is great! Will look great as a tuck-in with high-waisted skirts!

  15. says: MoneyMaus

I LOVE that shell on you! I don't own anything like it and definitely need too. But now it's Tuesday and I'm not sure how to order it, plus pay for shipping if it ends up not fitting me? Hmm… Also, not a fan of the roomy BR shirt because I don't think pockets on the chest like that are flattering on petites. Just my opinion though ;)

  16. says: a girl with two legs

    @a girl with two legs
I answered my own question and called the store. All I needed was the 6-digit style number next to the S. Couldn't pass up the 40% off on this top! Can't wait to receive it!
