Sample Size: Tiffany from My Fashion Epiphany

This week’s Sample Size interview is a new-comer to the blogging scene. Tiffany from My Fashion Epiphany had me with her stylish, yet wearable outfits, and pretty, scenic photos. When I found out she was 5’1″, I liked her style even more and couldn’t wait to introduce her to the petite fashion community. Be sure to check out her fabulous blog!

Tiffany’s stats:

5’1″, 125 lbs, 32 bust, 26/27 waist, 36 hips. Tops, I wear an XS or S, depending on the brand. Bottoms, usually a 2 or a 4, also depending on the brand. I think I would consider between a pear and an hourglass. I’m smaller up top, but not too small, and I have always had thick thighs and legs.

How do you feel about your height? Do you love it, hate it, neutral? Why?

I love my height! When I was younger, I was sort of a tomboy, and would love buying sneakers in kid’s sizes (so much cheaper!). I’ve traded them in (some of them) for heels now, but even without the heels, I still enjoy my height!

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as classic, colorful with a little bit of craziness on the side. I love classic and neutral pieces, but I also love big bold colors, and I also really love mixing patterns!

Has being petite made it difficult to dress the way you want?

No, I don’t think so at all. If I go into a store, and they don’t have my size or it doesn’t look right on me, I just keep it moving. I don’t give up easily on shopping. LOL. I know that every style won’t look right on me, and that’s okay.

What sizes do you shop most? (Petite, regular, etc.)

I shop a little bit of both. I prefer my shirts longer so will usually buy them in a regular size small. But, for my pants, I almost always try to buy them in petite (size 2 or 4…depending on the day) if available. I also try to look for blazers and jackets in petite as well. Some of my skirts are petite, some are regular; just depends on the length and the occasion.

What are your favorite designers and brands to shop?

Gap never lets me down. New York and Company is great for petite pants. Of course H & M and Forever 21. I LOVE Zara and although they don’t have petite sizes, their clothing does run small, so a lot of their tops and blazers work well for petite women. I also thrift a lot and have been able to find some really awesome pieces from Ann Taylor and Express. For shoes, I love Steve Madden, Guess and Nine West.

What clothing styles look amazing on you?

Skirts!! I have fully embraced my short legs and will jump at any chance to show them off. I also enjoy fitted tops and cardigans.

What clothing styles look awful on you?

I will say that I will and have tried almost everything. I never go into a store and say, I know I’m short so I’m not even going to look at those wide leg jeans. But, I will say that I have to have some type of shape to any clothing I pick.

Do you get your clothing tailored?

Yes, I do! Believe it or not, my mom does most of my tailoring (I usually just need a simple hem). I usually barter things with her, like breakfast or cleaning…lol.

What is your favorite outfit photo from your blog? Why?

This is me to a tee. White shirt, classic black cardigan, tan skirt, and the purple tights add that little bit of me/craziness.

What’s a piece of style advice you’d like to share with other petite women?

Embrace your height and wear it proudly! Don’t be discouraged by your pettiness, be proud of it! Fashion is fun and shouldn’t be a burden, no matter what size or shape you are!

Great interview! I just discovered your blog and I love it! As a petite girl, I love me size but it's not always easy to find clothing that fits, so it's great to read how others handle being petite.
