Petite Outfit: Dusty Pink and Military Green

I keep seeing magazine spreads and fashion bloggers pairing light, dusty pinks with military greens, and it’s such a pretty color combination, I figured I’d give it a try. I had a hard time pairing it with shoes, so first I tried yellow…

Cardigan: LOFT ruffle cardigan, size petite XXS (here)
Tank: Banana Republic Outlet, size petite XS
Skirt: Ever “Stillwater” silk skirt, size Petite (blue print) (yellow print) (same in wool)
Shoes: Cole Haan Genevieve open toe pump, size 5 (post)

Then, I remembered I got my wine red shoes back from the cobbler (the patent leather on these is getting old, so the internal workings were making an awful squeaking noise that was driving me crazy!), and gave those a try. Success! What a cute little outfit!

Shoes: Cole Haan Carma open toe pump, size 5 (here)

I also forgot this skirt has pockets! Double success!

I like the red shoes better, but do the yellow shoes work too?

So cute, I too like it better with the wine-colored shoes. I am a big fan of the military green and dusty pink combination, I am trying that out later this week. :)

I think the wine shoes look more "complete" but honestly, I like the pop that the yellow shoes give too! :) I just think it's more Spring than Fall.

Another great look. :) I'm finding that cardigan to be very versatile….more than I thought it would be. I think because it is such a muted, grayed colour it blends with so many things. And the chiffon ruffles are fun and differnt.

I'm not sure about that particular shade of yellow… I'm trying to imagine it in varying shades but my imagination is failing me -_- The wine shoes on the other hand complete the outfit. Great choice!

I do think the yellow shoes work, but obviously the wine colored shoes are perfect! Great outfit (don't you just love skirts and dresses with pockets?)

I love the combo of dusty pink & deep red! And I also love skirts with pockets because it gives me something to do with my awkward hands :P

Definitely the wine shoes! The yellow might work out better if you had a chunky necklace with some yellow in it. Or some other accessory with yellow. But like Jen said, the yellow is more spring, not fall.

Ahh, good. So my thoughts were confirmed. Something about the wine shoes just finishes the look.

Anonymous – Yup, I bet the yellow would look great with the grey.

Jen – Ohh…I'll try the yellow again for spring. Maybe I'll be "feeling" it better.

HM63 – I know! I've been playing with color combinations and am finding it very versatile too. The color is growing on me.

PetiteXXS – LOL. I know what you mean. My hands need to go somewhere or else I fidget like crazy!

Agreed with the crowd… the wine shoes are perfect, and there's something about the yellow that just doesn't work.

I think it's because none of the other clothes you're wearing are in the yellow family, rather than a seasonal thing. The wine echoes the cardigan's color and ties things together. If there were gold trim on the edges of the ruffles, or you wore a yellow rather than white tank underneath, the yellow would work.

Petite ladies have a really nice community! I am very impressed. Thanks for liking my green jacket. Definitely Asia is a great shopping place for petite ladies. You should visit Korea. Suit, accessory, glasses, shoes… you would love everything.

The wine shoes really anchor the outfit. The yellow shoes are neither here nor there. The wine picks up the red in the dusty pink but is also dark enough to coordinate with the darker skirt.

Wine colored shoes! They look great with the outfit. Now I want a pair :)

I have a skirt with pockets that I LOVE… too bad summer's basically over!

I love this look – that dusty pink and olive are just about my favorite color combination. The wine colored shoes work really well with the look, but I think yellow would also add a great twist (and I've been hunting for a great pair of yellow shoes all summer)!

So glad I found your blog – you've got great style!

How have I survived this long without your blog? I'm so glad to have found this mecca of smallwear!

A hearty "Amen" to the wine-colored heels, also.
