This weekend, I leave for a mini vacation in San Francisco!
I’ll be staying near Union Square, and plan to do lots of browsing and shopping. Aside from the usual suspects (Saks, Barney’s, Neiman’s, BR, AT, LOFT…etc), I plan to finally make it to Aritzia for the first time, which I always hear has petite friendly sizes.
My question for you…where should I shop? Do any SF locals have petite friendly shopping secrets? Please tell!
I won’t have a car, so it should be somewhere near Union Square, but I will cab it for something special.
How fun : ) A handbag store I love (Goyard) is only in SF, not that I was able to afford anything the last time I went. I want to visit Aritzia too for bustier camis! Let me know if you come across them and how much they are … I can't find any info online!
I'm 5 ft 1 myself and I would suggest the following 2 stores in SF:
Anthropologie (my fave) has a lot of clothing that may not say petite but fit petites fine (just look for their xs and s, and they carry 0s. Sale racks are on the bottom floor ;)
Also Nordstrom has a good Petites section. Plus they have a FAB Bistro with a beautiful view and very reasonable prices for the service you get.
I've never really liked Aritzia in SF as much as the Vancouver stores but hey if it works for you then great!
Good luck!
Lucky you! :). I was there about a month ago, but didn't get to do much shopping as I was busy planning for the upcoming wedding. I do have few suggestions for you, but some of them do require getting on the buses. You can check out some boutique stores in Hayes Valley and on Chestnut Street. There's one boutique that I really like in Japantown, Boutique Harajuku. You can get there from Union Sq by taking the 38 bus on Geary. Should take you about 15 minutes to get there. If you like Japanese food, definitely worth the trip. You can always check out Loehmanns. I used to go to Ambiance, too. What about BCBG? There's one on the corner of Power and O'Farrell. I can't guarantee that all these stores still exist as I moved from SF to Texas about 3 years ago. Have a great time, and looking forward to see all your new finds!
I, sadly, have never been to San Francisco. Have fun and tell us all about it. How about some photos for those of us who may never get there. I support the request for info on the bustier cami's. Happy travels lucky girl!
Thanks for the ideas everyone!
PAG – I'll keep my eyes peeled for bustier cami's at Aritzia & let ya know what I find!
Lucky you! I wish I had a whole weekend just to dedicate to shopping lol… enjoy!
Yes I took it (the poll that is)…so when do you tell us the results?
Laurie – I'm gonna give it a few more days for stragglers, and I'll post the results next week! =)
Thank you to everyone who's taken it already! It's been really helpful.
Look forward to the results :)
I'm not sure how far away San Fran is from Daly City, but I always wanted to go to the Tameice outlet. The website for the shop has been down for some time now, so I don't know if they went out of business or not. If so, it'd be quite a shame b/c a fashion-forward petites line is such a rare thing in the first place!

Also the following places get great reviews for petites:

Saffron Rare Threads – http://www.yelp.com/biz/saffron-rare-threads-san-francisco#query:petites
A yelp search for "petites" in San Francisco will point out a few more stores.
