My interest in the brand Rag & Bone was piqued when I found a very slim fitting pencil skirt, so I began checking them out to see what else they had to offer the tiny petite gals of the world. Perusing the Rag & Bone racks at Saks Fifth Avenue, I found another great little number.
One of my favorite things to find are wrap dresses. Extra points if they are made in a beautiful fabric. Rag & Bone did both for me with this little gem…
And here she is in size 0, right off the rack. Check out the fit without any alterations!
This dress is a really thin silk with a fun mesh bottom detail and side pockets! I love pockets in dresses and skirts! It has twisted spaghetti straps that should be easy to alter.
As you can see from the picture, the dress is a little baggy on top, but when I pull up on the straps, everything falls into place. This dress is made for a taller girl with a longer torso than I have, so by shortening the straps, the waist, bust, armholes and hemline all move higher, which smooths out the extra fabric you see danging in the photo.
A beautiful dress with an easy alteration! Fabulous!
This dress is available online at shopbop.com and neimanmarcus.com. If you opt to pick this beauty up, take note that the fabric is thin, and the dress is unlined, so you’ll need at least a skirt slip for modesty. Off to the tailor I go!
I have been wanting a wrap dress FOREVER! But I can never find one small enough. I glad to know they exist, altough if you know somewhere they exist at a waaaay cheaper price I’d be ecstatic.
Hi Jackie! I’ll see what I can find! Wrap dresses are a petite girl’s best friend.
Hello! It’s nice to know where I can find BCBG’s petite line. I’ve tried several of their dresses and coats but they don’t flatter me enough to justify the price (I do love the choice of fabrics though!) My friend, who’s also 5’2″ and around the same height, looks fabulous in BCBG and can find pieces that fit her well in the regular line. On the other hand, I’ve found gems with the Banana Republic petite line. Their dresses flatter me well when I can find the right cut and silhouette for my body type. I’ll have to give the BCBG petite line a try and I absolutely agree with you that wrap dresses are a petite girl’s best friend. They hug me in the right places!
I have a question for you. Do you think your Burberry trench coat from the boutique with complimentary alterations fit better or the petite one that they have at Nordstroms?
Realizing that petite sizing fit me better has been life altering. Please continue blogging; I enjoy reading about your adventures as a fellow petite gal.
/hits forehead. I posted my comment on the wrong entry. >.<
Hi A.T.!
As far as the Burberry petite coats go, I’ve never been able to get my hands on a size 2P to compare! Every time I discover them online, the 2P is sold out, and I’ve never seen them in store. Goes to show you how many tiny petites are out there snatching them up! But it is a mini mission of mine to find and try one someday, so hopefully I’ll have a post on that soon!
Thanks for following my blog! It feels good to know there are lots of other petites out there who face the same issues I do!
