Review: H&M Suiting in Size 2

by AlterationsNeeded on March 10, 2010

There was talk of size 2 suiting popping up at H&M stores in the forum and Facebook, and luckily, there happens to be a H&M on my way home from work. Up until recently, H&M suiting only went down to a size 4, which is about 1-2 sizes too big for me depending on the style and cut. Yesterday I scoured the sales floor for this new size, and ended up finding only two suiting separates in the entire store! Amazingly, they matched! I also …

Review: J.Crew Petites Suiting

by AlterationsNeeded on April 13, 2009

J.Crew petite sizes are only available online, so I hadn’t had an opportunity to try anything out to see how their sizing runs. Curiosity finally got the better of me and I decided to order a few items of petite suiting in size 0. I ordered a pair of city-fit petite pants in size 0 that indicated they had “stretch”, in the hopes that meant they would fit smaller. The city-fit is the pant with the lowest rise available at J.Crew…

Small Petite Suiting: Below Zero Petites

by AlterationsNeeded on February 26, 2009

Petite career women have got it tough. There’s the boxy suits at department store petite departments, or there’s the trendier offerings at Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and J.Crew, but that’s assuming you can fit in their smallest sizes! Being as tiny as I am, I unfortunately do not fit in current suiting offerings. I’m lucky enough to work in an industry that is VERY casual, so I can wear jeans to work everyday. I donR…

Brand that Sometimes Runs Small: Banana Republic Petites

by AlterationsNeeded on September 14, 2008

…n are of this variety. For example, this top fit me fantastically! Petite sleeveless tie-neck top (rayon/spandex) Jackets: I’ve found a few blazers in P00 that have worked me, and each one has had the word “stretch” on the label. Go figure, since the stretchy fabric garments are cut smaller right? Look for things that say “stretch”, and there’s a chance it’ll fit. Pants: Just like with the jackets, the P00 pants that have the word “stretch” so…

Dress Pants for Tiny Petites: Ann Taylor

by AlterationsNeeded on August 27, 2009

I’ve been looking for dress pants for quite some time, and both J.Crew and Banana Republic have failed me. The petite J.Crew suiting in size 0 was WAY too big, and the Banana Republic Martin Fit in petite 00 was not only too big, but the fit was so bad that my tailor deemed them unalterable. So, I finally gave Ann Taylor a try.  Ann Taylor recently changed the names of their pant fit offerings, so I went for the “Modern”…

Review: Goodies from the LOFT Friends and Family Sale

by AlterationsNeeded on April 29, 2010

As promised, here’s what I picked up during the LOFT F&F sale, starting with my favorite:    Petite Suiting Pencil Skirt in size P00: LOFT Suiting Skirt, size P00 I really like this skirt, and I think after a few alterations, it would be perfect. What I like: The details! The front pockets are really cute, and I really like the pleat in the back. It’s based on these extra details that I’m thinking about getting…
