Petite-Friendly Coats: Burberry

by AlterationsNeeded on November 5, 2008

I love trench coats, therefore, I love the ultimate classic, Burberry. I pined for them from afar, but had convinced myself they would be too big. Then, the fantastic man in my life gave me a big Burberry box for Christmas last year (thanks babe!), and now I’m hooked.   Burberry runs pretty small…and if you buy from a Burberry boutique, the alterations are FREE! Getting my coat altered was a wonderful experience with the luxury brand…

J.Crew Petite Coats – Lady Day and Stadium Cloth Peacoat

by AlterationsNeeded on December 22, 2010

…my J.Crew photos on the same day, with the same boring outfit underneath. =P When this coat was highlighted on Extra Petite, I had to take advantage of the sale J.Crew had going on and give it a try. I love the look of J.Crew coats, and would love to add a few to my wardrobe. I’ve also come to the realization that I need more casual coats to survive the winter, especially now that I have little Clinton, who needs to be walked, rain or shine…

Review: The Elusive Burberry Petite

by AlterationsNeeded on December 9, 2009

I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Burberry petite coat for a while now…but those things sell out fast! Not sold in Burberry boutiques, but only in high end department stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, these things are in short supply, and the smallest sizes usually sell out immediately. Fellow Burberry fan Jean and I have been chatting about this on Twitter for a few weeks now, so I decided to do a little detective work. As some of you may know, I own two Burberry trench coats. One is the Harbourne style, and the other is the Ledstone, both in size 2 and altered down to fit. Some styles fit smaller than others, and after alterations, the size 2 coats hav…

Petite Outfit: Who Needs Sunshine When You’ve Got Burberry?

by AlterationsNeeded on January 27, 2010

It’s cold and rainy in Southern California right now…and I don’t think anyone is more excited about this than I am. You see…as a SoCal girl…I should love floaty dresses and paper-thin cotton casuals. However, I somehow missed that day in school, because my heart swoons for coats! Beautiful dramatic coats! I want a wardrobe full of ‘em! But my poor coats languish away in a closet for most of the year, while t…

Brand that Sometimes Runs Small: Banana Republic Petites

by AlterationsNeeded on September 14, 2008

…n are of this variety. For example, this top fit me fantastically! Petite sleeveless tie-neck top (rayon/spandex) Jackets: I’ve found a few blazers in P00 that have worked me, and each one has had the word “stretch” on the label. Go figure, since the stretchy fabric garments are cut smaller right? Look for things that say “stretch”, and there’s a chance it’ll fit. Pants: Just like with the jackets, the P00 pants that have the word “stretch” so…
