spring-black-5-600

Winter white…meet spring black. I’m in this transitional period of celebrating the arrival of spring by reaching for white jeans, while still clutching onto my wardrobe favorites, which happen to be fall pieces and colors.

banana-republic-polka-dot-pants-2-600

Just when I thought I was done buying polka dots, I saw these pants at Banana Republic and was smitten. So many times, polka dot pants seemed gimmicky to me, but something about these felt otherwise. The dots were just the right size and color, and I appreciate the waffled texture. The pants come fully lined, which is very welcome when it comes to white bottoms.

The Doctor (Bag) Is In

April 11, 2013

Doctor bags have been a love of mine for quite some time. I’ve always been drawn to them, but had a hard time finding one that didn’t look too bulky in my hand. So when I caught sight of this one by Jason Wu in store last year, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I was still suffering from sticker shock due to my last handbag purchase, so after some time ohh-ing and ahh-ing over it at the handbag counter, I walked away hoping I could snag it for a better deal down the line. While I was price-watching, the bag sold out, and has regretfully been an item that “got away” ever since.

That’s Zoe L.A.

The pursuit of cute, full skirts (with pockets!) has brought me to this beauty by Rachel Zoe. The short and full silhouette is fun and flirty, and the simple color-way makes it easy to mix and match. I’ve found myself drawn to Rachel Zoe’s line recently, probably for a few reasons. First, she’s a blazer girl, and I can relate. Second, she’s based in LA, which gives me a bit of hometown pride. Not too long ago, LA fashion was epitomized by brands like American Apparel (which icks me out on many levels…Dov Charney…those ads…eww), so it’s refreshing to see some actual style associated to LA that’s not of the spandex or silicone variety.

blue-stripe-linen-9-600

I’ve literally been living in this shirt (extra 30% off with code SUNSHINE thru 4/7) since it arrived last week. The color, fabric (linen/cotton), and easy breezy shape (it’s a “boy” shirt, so fits roomy in the torso, while still being fitted in the shoulder and sleeves) is geting me geared up for summer. I’ve been wearing it under blazers, alone and buttoned up, and this time I wanted to add a little interest by way of a sequin shell. I wore white denim to match the warmer weather, and every time I put on these jeans, all I want to pair them with are these bright cobalt heels. They look so good together!

Baroque Blues

March 30, 2013

baroque-print-denim-7-600

Never been much of a print person, but baroque patterns have always caught my eye. It feels very film noir to me…vintage, but a little dark and mysterious…like something you’d find in a 1920s speakeasy. So when printed denim started to evolve into baroque patterns last fall, I was looking for a good pair for myself. These by Blank topped my list because of the dark blue base hue (easy to pair in my wardrobe) and dark greenish-gold print that didn’t hold too much contrast from the base color, making it a more subdued version of the trend.
