Anthropologie Petite Maeve Openwork Shirtdress // Size Petite 00

For this week’s Fit Review Friday, I have an eyelet petite shirtdress from Anthropologie. As per usual, you can find my measurements for comparison here.

This dress piqued my interest after reading the reviews, which were full of petites raving about the fit and claims it ran small, so I had to order it and see for myself. I’d agree this dress runs small, and am happy to see it comes close to being a perfect fit on my frame. There is perhaps an inch of extra fabric at the waist, but it’s hardly noticeable thanks to the nice seam job done to sculpt the bodice, as well as the fun full skirt (which always helps to visually whittle a waist). The length is too long on me, but seems like a pretty easy alteration despite the eyelet fabric (the eyelet layer is finished with a small, simple fold-over hem).

Length aside, this dress is fully lined through the body, and has side pockets which are always a plus in my book. I wish it came in more colors, because I could see this being a really nice airy summer dress if it were white.

The approximate measurements of size Petite 00 are as follows:

Shoulder: 14″
Bust: 15″
Waist: 12.5″
Hip: 16″
Sleeve Length: 16.5″
Overall Length: 36.5″

  • Yes I agree it would be great in white! I am petite but busty. I usually wear size 4P in Banana Republic clothes. Do you think these flare styles work for a curvy petite? Thanks!

    • Hi Carol! I totally agree with Roxanna’s comment below, flare styles are great for curves! They visually define a waist, and balance out a bust, or even broad shoulders. If you feel swallowed by fabric when wearing a full skirted style, keep the length at or above the knee. The more skin you show, the less “swallowed” you’ll look and feel.

  • I must say I am loving your Fit Review Friday posts. This one just peaked my interest – what a great dress! I’ll have to pop into Anthro to check it out. And Carol – being a curvy petite myself, I think these dresses are perfect because they show off a small waist and the flared skirt helps balance out a bust.

    • Thanks Roxanna! I’ll keep ’em coming. =) And I totally agree, flared styles are perfect for curves!

  • A really nice dress on you! You could wear it with different coloured shoes and accessories, and/or a belt to vary the look too. Agreeing a little off the length would be make a positive difference. I’m really enjoying your fit review raps Kelly. Thank you!
