Dear Banana Republic…

I almost gave you my hard earned money today, when I saw this cardigan in store…

The black ribbon on navy merino wool looked really great sitting there, nicely folded on the table, so I tried it on in a size petite XS, since that’s the smallest size you carry in stores. I loved it, but I needed just one size smaller, so I hopped on my computer as soon as I got home, credit card in hand, ready to purchase.
But then I saw this…

Where’s the navy? That color isn’t even available online in petites! Um…I’m confused…and a little bit hurt. Oh yeah, and you didn’t get any money from me today.

**Update** As some commenters suggested, I called Banana Republic customer service to ask about the navy blue in petite sizes. Customer Service said the navy blue in petite was never made for the online store, and size petite XXS does not exist in the store system. Bummer. =(

    So very strange…so navy was definitely available in petites in-store? I know retailers make limited colors for petites but if it's available in stores then I'm baffled about why not online. Boo!

    i hate that!! the gray cardigan actually looks cute still too, but i know what you mean about it being frustrating when they don't have even have the color available online.

    haha that happens a lot to me when I try to go home and get it online. Do you think you could've possibly just shrunk the XS though? Maybe the navy one was only available in a few stores and it was sold out at the BR warehouse where they ship their things from. : )

    I like the navy color better than the gray. Usually I like pretty much everything in gray but this is an exception. Hope you can find one soon, it is pretty.

    Ugh this is a serious Pet Peeve! (Yes it deserves capitalization!) I don't understand why stores don't bother fully stocking petite colors! I wonder if the store could order it for you…?

    Call BR CSR directly!
    Request CSR to check with the inventory dept. It could be an error online.
    Good luck. Don't settle for a color you don't like.
    Did you keep the ATL Gray skinny pant? You look very very very lovely in it.

    I agree with the other readers…try calling customer service to find out if there is a petite xxs out there. My store sometimes gets the petite xxs returned to them. There has to be one somewhere! Good luck! :)

    Wow I had no idea they do that, since I rarely shop in store. I guess there's a possibility that they're sold out in navy in all sizes?

    The Little Dust Princess – I did think about shrinking the petite XS, but I'm afraid of what will happen to the ribbon detail. Eek!

    HM63 – The navy is really great! As long as you're not a size petite XXS like I'm cursed as being, the navy is available in all the other petite sizes in stores.

    This happens A LOT. I saw a sweater at Banana today in XSP but it was a little big. Went home to check the US site to see if I could get an XXSP, but the sweater was not available in PETITES AT ALL……..huh??

    I love the navy. It's not the color I would typically buy. It happens a lot to me. I see what I like in store but couldn't find it online. Let's hope that it'll pop up online the next time you check

    I had a similar horror happen to me earlier this season. I was lucky enough to shop at a Chicago BR that had lots of petite styles. I figured I would go home and order them online with a coupon, only to find that NOTHING I wanted was even on the website in petite. :(. Since then I've tried stopping at every Banana Republic that sells petites that I could find to get those items. Only found one shirt.
