Review – Urban Outfitters Kimchi Blue Knit Jacket

This baby was first seen on the ever stylish Chloe, and I was instantly smitten. My love of jackets is no secret, and this comfy knit version had me at “gingham” and “peplum”.

Jacket: Urban Outfitters, Kimchi Blue Knit Gingham Jacket, in Ivory, size XS (here on sale!)
Tank: Banana Republic, size petite XS
Jeans: Paige Blue Heights, size 23 (hemmed) (here)
Shoes: Cole Haan Carma Open Toe Pump, size 5 (here)

When I first pulled it out of the package, I was a little confused. The print up close looks a little strange, and I couldn’t figure out if they sent me the right color or not. But then I put it on and fell in love. The fabric is more of a sweater material than traditional jacket material, but that makes it soft and comfy, as well as stretchy, so it fits us tiny petite gals better. The three buttons are a little cheap looking, but it’s so easy to sew new, nicer buttons on, that I’m not concerned. Maybe I’ll get crafty a little later this year.

The fit in the shoulder and arms is amazing, and the peplum shape is cute and flirty. But my favorite view is from behind:

Look at that perfectly fitting, smooth back, and hourglass shape! I also love the longer pleated tail. What a fun little petite Urban Outfitters jacket! This baby is gonna get a lot of wear from me.

I heard on Twitter a few other petite bloggers (Extra Petite, Petite Little Girl, Petite XXS, Stylepint, & From Head to Toe) picked this baby up too, so keep an eye on their blogs for more reviews later!

    I saw that on Chloe too! At that time it wasn't on sale but now it's only $29.99…baaaah. I have to agree the back is really adorable with the longer length and pleating! Did you cuff it at that length or did it come that way?

    I loove the view from behind. I still haven't pulled the trigger because I don't know about the color choices. Hope the sizes don't run out while I'm hemming and hawing. I wish it came in some more color/print options! Can't wait to see it on all the others.

    Ahhh that looks fantastic! I saw this on the website and was unsure. The back is great too, so cute!

    Does this run true to size or is there a bit of room? I'm thinking if I do get it I'd have to size up!

  • Alterations Needed

    Hanna – The jacket came cuffed at the perfect length already, but it's not sewn in that position. You can un-cuff it to go longer (not full sleeve though) or roll it more to do shorter.

    curls-and-pearls – There is a tiny bit on room on me, and the jacket is stretchy, so it can accommodate someone a bit bigger than me. The sleeve is really fitted, and the shoulder runs narrow (perfect on me). Someone broad shouldered or with really athletic arms should size up for sure.

    Chloe also bought the XS, and she's bigger than me, and it still fits her great, just a bit more fitted. I think the XS would be great for most petites who want a nice fitted look.

  • Alterations Needed

    Elle & PAG – I know, it's hard to please most people's tastes with just these two patterns/colors. Like I said, the pattern looks strange up close, but once you put it on, it looks great! I love gingham, houndstooth and other patterns like that, so it was right up my alley. =)

    If you're not in love, don't buy it. Otherwise you'll never wear it!

I didn't even remember seeing it on Chloe, and clicking through the link now I realize why… it's so much more shrunken fit on her!
