Petite Outfit: Waistcoat and Pearls…

Jacket: Theory Amanda B, size 00 (similar style and fit)(also here)(and here)
Waistcoat: Banana Republic, size P00
Tank: Banana Republic Factory Store (Outlet), size PXS
Jeans: Paige Premium Denim, Laurel Canyon in McKinley, size 24 (hemmed & waist taken in)
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik, size 34.5
Necklace: Iridesse 80″ freshwater pearl strand (similar splurge)(similar)
Pin: Vintage jet and marcasite in sterling silver

I love menswear pieces! I re-discovered this Banana Republic waistcoat in the back of my closet and had to pull her out for some fun. I like the jacket over the waistcoat by itself…but it needed a little something. This pearl necklace can be a bit dramatic for everyday, but nestling it between the jacket and waistcoat toned it down to just the right amount of drama. The pin I picked up at a vintage fair recently. I put it on this jacket the first day I got it, and it looks so great, I just can’t take it off.

    You look so well put together…. down to those tweed shoes! I recently ordered these long-strand pearls online, but they're 10 mm pearls and are too big for my petite frame I think… they feel a little bit like shackles around my neck! I need to exchange for the smaller 6 or 7 mm pearls probably.

    Love, love this. I'm not good at layering and wouldn't think to put a vest under a blazer. Aren't you hot with that on in SoCal weather?

    PetiteXXS – Yeah, large sized pearls can be too big on our small frames. I think these are the largest I could go, and sometimes I feel like their too big (when I'm in a "I don't want to stand out mood"), but are perfect when I want a little drama in my life. =)

    PAG – I'm a fall/winter dresser for sure! It's June Gloom here in LA, so it's actually pretty chilly. Gotta get my jacket wearing in before it becomes unbearably hot!

    I'm also always cold. I've been known to wear sweaters in hot humid weather… =P

    Your waist must be so tiny. I have a pair of Paige denim similar to your style in size 24 and the waist gets snug if I eat too much. haha

    Just wanted to pop in and say that that's a really neat outfit and to thank you so much for the ruelala.com code, the Paige skyline jeans in 24 that I snagged was a perfect fit (except for hemming), and was such a great buy.

    BTW – have you ever consider pairing that outfit above with oxfords? I think that would be such a chic look.

    I was so inspired by this look and tried to replicate today, but realized that my vest was this teeny tiny thing that wasn't meant to be worn under a blazer.:( Ended up just wearing a Gap tee under a striped blazer, and piling on lots and lots of long necklaces!
