Ann Taylor and LOFT Friends and Family Sale packages have arrived! I want to get these reviews up quick while there are still small sizes available in case anyone is interested, so I’ll start with Ann Taylor today, and finish up with LOFT tomorrow.
First up…Ann Taylor:
Petite Silk Charmeuse Primitive Brushstroke Top in size P00:

Let me just say, I love slim fitting silks! This silk top has a side zipper, which is the smartest thing AT ever did. The side zipper means the top can be cut slimmer, while still making it possible to slip on, resulting in…a silk top that is not a huge tent (like some other silks I tried recently). This top drapes nicely, and surprisingly, isn’t a mile long like the other AT tops I tried on before. The cap sleeves are a bit poofy for my taste, but they’re growing on me, and the print is a bit busy, but I think could be really cool if styled correctly. I think I’m going to give this one a nice steaming (it’s a bit wrinkly from being shipped) and play with it a little bit, but I think I may have a keeper on my hands. Interested in this top? It also comes in a periwinkle blue.
More after the jump!
Petite Cowl Necked Draped Dress in size XXS:

This dress does nothing for my figure. I had high hopes for this dress because it came in the super tiny size extra-extra-small petite, and the rayon/spandex blend fabric made me think it would be stretchy and fitted. The first thing I noticed about this dress was how heavy it was! Lifting this thing was a bit shocking…who knew rayon weighed so much!? Aside from that, it’s not terribly fitted despite it’s super tiny tag size, and I felt the proportions were totally off. The sleeves were too wide, the cowl neck had too much fabric, the length was too long, and the waist drape seemed awkwardly placed (maybe it’s too low? I can’t quite put my finger on it). This one is going back for sure.
Tomorrow…a review of the LOFT pieces I picked up!
