This LOFT button down shirt caught my eye online, and when I saw it in real life, I fell in love! The shoulder detail, being called a “corsage”, is a great detail that adds interest to the shirt. I also really like the blue pinstripes, which gives this shirt a preppy, but casual feeling. How fun!

There was only one problem…ok…a few problems…the shirt in size petite 00 was still quite a bit big. The fit in the shoulder was good, but the torso and sleeves were way too baggy. Here it is in size petite 00:

I really wanted this shirt to work, so I took it to my tailor to see what she could do. She pinned it down the sides, and also along the two seams in the back to contour it a bit. Then she pinned the sleeves to narrow them.Here is my shirt after alterations:

Cost of Alteration: $38
The difference is pretty incredible isn’t it?The cost is a bit much to invest in a shirt, but I thought it was more than just a plain ol’ button down. The shoulder detail is a really fun and unexpected addition that made this shirt much more interesting, and worthy of investing in a little bit.

P.S. – I’ve been rockin’ the skinny jeans lately…I realized I’ve been neglecting them by stuffing them in a drawer and forgetting all about them. They’re really excited to be here and would like to say “hi!”
